Street Pastors Stoke-on-Trent

I am writing to you to inform you of the way some so called church leaders are the biggest sinners there are in Stoke-on-Trent. In 2008 I moved home from Milton Keynes to Stoke-on-Trent by responding to God’s calling. To do this I had to close my business down and had to say goodbye to many friends. I believed that God’s calling was to move to Stoke-on-Trent with the aim of setting up Street Pastors as I felt God saying that Stoke-on-Trent was in such a mess and that God wanted his presents to be seen in the city.
After spending 18 months making contacts with church leaders we were awarded a licence to operate street pastors in Stoke-on-Trent. This operator’s licence was awarded in August 2009 but then was withdraw a few weeks later because 2 church leaders decided that they would stab the person who had done all the work, set the whole thing up and responded to God’s calling. That person was me.
Throughout I was the street pastor co-coordinator and these 2 church leaders took it upon themselves that they would prefer a different person to operate street pastors and that my services were no longer required.
I have been involved in street work for over 5 years now and the person who is now in charge has only had a few nights on the streets training in Manchester. My concern is God wanted a big impact to Stoke-on-Trent with the best possible team to serve but instead he has got 2 so called church leaders, one of whom thinks he is God and an unqualified person with very little experience as the co-ordinator. Because of this I was pushed out of Stoke-on-Trent because I wasn’t welcomed and this was so wrong. Is this Christianity? Is this how God says to treat one another?
To this day I still receive inquires on how to become a street pastor. I also everyday continue to engage people on the streets being a blessing to others. This treatment I have received has not stopped me responding to God’s calling.
Although street pastors have to undertake training before they are allowed on the streets I feel that the operators of Stoke-on-Trent street pastors will be the downfall to this ministry and that street pastors themselves maybe put in danger without the proper guidance.
Street pastors Stoke-on-Trent is being launched at the Bridge centre on Thursday. I feel the public should be made aware that if your face doesn’t fit then you’re not welcome according to some church leaders involved.
My understanding of God’s word is to Love one another, support and encourage one another, build on rock and not sand and do not judge another or you to will be judged. Theses church leaders have fallen short on all counts. If this is how God’s word will be spread in Stoke-on-Trent then what hope do any of us have?

Over the summer Barbara and I have been working hard on Street Pastors. A meeting with church leaders was held and the agreement was signed shortly after. So I therefore am delighted to say that Stoke-on-Trent has now official Street Pastors status.

We now aim to get the training program up and running by February. So if you are interested in training as a Street Pastor or would like to know more please e-mail us at stokeontrent@streetpastors.org.uk to register your interest. You can also register you interest by writing to us at Stoke-on-Trent Street Pastors, Office 11, First Floor, Wellington House, St. Marks Street, Shelton, Stoke-on-Trent, ST1 4LN. Also please spread the word in your church that Street Pastors are now in Stoke.

We are looking for:
Christians to train as Street Pastors and for team members who would like to help as background staff.

More information about dates, times, posters, DVD’s ect will be sent out to local churches in due course. Lastly Barbara and I would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support over the past 18 months that has helped bring Street Pastors to Stoke-on-Trent.

Adoration 09

This year, rather than locking Adoration away in a stadium, or basking in the beautiful surroundings of Trentham Gardens, Adoration is coming to the streets of Burslem, to showcase artists in the heart of the city. Burslem is situated on the A50 to the north of Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme, within easy reach of the A34 and M6 motorway.

Leave the M6 at junction 16 and follow the A500 towards Newcastle-under-Lyme. Bear left onto the A50, and you will pass through the centre of Burslem.
